Hammerfall - Avenge the Fallen Review :: Melanie loves power metal??

Melanie Loves… Power Metal? What did I just say? Yes. Sometimes one has to slide themselves out of the gut barrel, hang up the gore adorned butcher coat and feel the sunlight on their crimson splattered face. Hammerfall is the type of gateway band that would do that for a person. Lighthearted. Fun. Melodic. Powerful heavy metal! And after 31 years and now 13 albums, they should have master class knowledge on how to create metal that unifies, empowers and makes people happy. Avenge the Fallen is such an album. Armed with their classic heavy metal roots glistening like armor in the firelight, Hammerfall returns with 10 new and expertly hewn tracks that feel just as spirited and well considered as those found on their Glory to the Brave debut. There’s a reason why this band is still active and it all boils down to the passion in the songs and the endless singing talent of frontman Joacim Cans. Hammerfall may not be reinventing any wheels in 2024, but the have arrived to pick us up in a comfortable luxury vehicle that is starving for the open road. The question is… are you ready to go on that road trip? Join Melanie as she breaks down Avenge the Fallen and tries to make sense of how happiness has infiltrated her metal defenses.
