From Promises to Progress: Report launch + Online Strategy Session | RESURJ

On October 21st, 2026 RESURJ members hosted "From Promises to Progress" a virtual report launch and online strategy session. This session served as a culmination of RESURJ members and allies' participation at the High Level Political Forum (HLPF). In this session and in our newly launched report, RESURJ members and allies reflect on the HLPF as a political space that continues to be strategic for feminist organizing and the Voluntary National Reviews as a valuable tool for advocacy that if perfected, could be one of few tools to hold States accountable for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Besides recountering our experiences at HLPF, these reflections open the door to a more profound conversation to be had among the feminist movement and in collaboration with other social movements engaging with the HLPF, the SDGs, and related accountability processes. The SDG framework is close to reaching its expiry date, set to 2030. 2027 will mark the beginning of a process of negotiations to determine whether this timeline will be extended, if some of the SDGs will be carried forward as specific goals, or if this framework will be reimagined all together. Under these possible scenarios, we must think collectively in political terms to create strategies to push for more commitments and more implementation of the ones previously made. We believe this is not the time to abandon this platform, but to use this strategic moment to advance on the gender, climate and economic justice agendas, and demand the transformations necessary for SDGs to be a reality on the ground.
