Why You Can't FOCUS in Salah & Fastest Way to Fix it | Hisham Abu Yusuf
.
"Two rakahs prayed with khushu – with humility, connectedness, love, and fear of Allah – are better than 100 rakahs prayed without it."
The Prophet ﷺ once told a man who prayed: "Go back and pray, for you have not prayed." He repeated this three times. Khushu is not optional. It is the essence of Salah. Without it, your prayer might be empty movements – an aerobics workout, a chore, a tick box.
In this powerful lecture, Ustadh Hisham Abu Yusuf explains what khushu is, why it is the first knowledge that will be stolen from this ummah, and how you can attain it.
He gives three practical steps to transform your Salah: remember the afterlife, learn the meanings of what you say, and take your time. He also warns that we live in a time where you can enter a masjid and find everyone moving, but not a single person experiencing khushu.
In this video, you will learn:
Why Khushu Matters: The Prophet ﷺ said a person who prays without khushu has not prayed. The outward movements are not enough – the heart must be present.
The First Knowledge to Be Stolen: The Prophet ﷺ warned that a day will come when khushu will be taken from this ummah. You may enter a masjid and see everyone moving, but no one experiencing humility and connection to Allah.
Three Steps to Attain Khushu:
1. Remember the Afterlife:
Every Salah is a rehearsal for the day you will stand before Allah. When you hear the Adhan, remember the final call. When you stand in Salah, remember you will stand on Judgment Day.
2. Learn the Meanings:
Shame on us that we pray for 10, 20, 30 years and do not know what we are saying. If you were meeting a dignitary, you would find a translator. Why are you satisfied speaking to Allah without understanding?
3, Take Your Time:
Why the rush? Musa (AS) gave a long answer to Allah because he wanted to prolong the conversation. He didn't want it to end. We count the minutes in Salah, but spend hours with friends without noticing the time.
The Hypocrite's Salah: The Prophet ﷺ described the hypocrite as someone who waits until the last moment, then pecks on the ground four times like a chicken – no remembrance, no consciousness, no fear, no love.
Quality Over Quantity: Even two rakahs with khushu are better than 100 without it. It is not about the number of pages or rakats – it is about the connection you feel with Allah.
This lecture will transform how you see Salah. It is not a tick box. It is your meeting with Allah. Pray like you mean it – before it's too late.
