Dresden Mitte Zwinger

On this walk through Dresden Mitte, we pass the colourful paintings beneath the railway arches on Könneritzstraße. They are part of the Bahnbögengalerie (“Railway Arches Gallery”), a public art project created for Dresden’s 800th anniversary in 2006. Across 40 arches, the artists used styles ranging from realistic scenes to optical illusions. Many of the paintings explore transport, Dresden landmarks and everyday city life. From here, the walk continues toward the Zwinger Park.
