Bax Symphony No. 3 - Sir Edward Downes conducts BBC SO

Sir Edward Downes conducts the BBC Symphony Orchestra on May 26, 1970 in a broadcast performance of Sir Arnold Bax's Third Symphony. Sir Edward Downes had recorded the symphony the year before with the London Symphony Orchestra on British RCA in a recording that is now out-of-print. This video is dedicated to the memory of the great Bax scholar Graham Parlett who died in 2021. The photos of Bax used for this video are mostly from his collection.
