The Fatal Flaws in RuneScape Reignited

RuneScape Reignited promises something incredibly appealing: a completely fresh RuneScape world, a new economy, new highscores, new World Firsts — and everyone starting from zero. But will that fresh start actually be as fair as it sounds? After my first video about RuneScape Reignited, the reaction was honestly insane. Thousands of views, hundreds of comments, and a much bigger discussion than I ever expected. And one thing really stood out to me: While the overall mood around Reignited on places like Reddit seems overwhelmingly negative, a surprisingly large number of people in my comments were actually excited about it. Some see Reignited as the RuneScape they have wanted for years. A fresh economy without decades of MTX. A chance to start again. A reason for former players to return. And maybe even a bridge between RuneScape 3 and Old School RuneScape. I completely understand why people are putting so much hope into it. But that is also exactly what worries me. Because those expectations might be almost impossible to meet. Everyone may start at Level 3 with zero GP — but players do not start with zero knowledge. Some people will play ten hours a day. Some will use multiple accounts. Elite PvMers already know how far they can push extremely weak gear, experienced skillers know how to optimise progression, and methods like Heists could potentially introduce high-level equipment into the economy incredibly quickly. So how long will that "fresh economy" actually stay fresh? And who is Reignited really for? Active RuneScape 3 players? Old School players? Returning players who left because of MTX? Or completely new players who have never played RuneScape before? In this video, I take a closer look at the biggest problems I see with RuneScape Reignited before it has even launched — from highscores and World Firsts to alt accounts, the new economy, OSRS players, returning players and the expectations Jagex is placing on this new version of RuneScape. And to be clear: when I ask whether Reignited is "already doomed", I don't necessarily mean that the servers will be dead within a few months. The bigger question is whether the version of Reignited people are hoping for — a fair fresh start, a clean economy and a huge new community — can actually exist. Because the more hope people place into Reignited, the more damaging it could be if those expectations are disappointed.
