ChatGPT recommends brands to millions of people every day, and getting recommended is not reserved for the brands with the biggest budgets.
This video is the five-step checklist we use to take a website from not recommended at all to visible in a meaningful share of AI answers, based on analysing millions of AI answers inside our own software.

THE FIVE STEPS
1. MAKE YOUR SITE VISIBLE TO CHATGPT
ChatGPT uses four crawlers: OAI-SearchBot (live web search), GPTBot (training), ChatGPT-User (fetching pages on request) and OAI-AdsBot (ads). Check your CMS, DNS provider (for example Cloudflare) and hosting settings so they are not blocked.

Also check JavaScript: most AI crawlers do not execute JavaScript, so your key pages need their content present in the HTML.

2. BING, NOT (JUST) GOOGLE
When ChatGPT runs a live search, it primarily searches Bing. If you are not indexed and ranking on Bing, ChatGPT cannot find you. Set up Bing Webmaster Tools and make sure your site is indexed.

3. TRACK THE DATA
List 20-30 bottom-of-funnel prompts your buyers actually ask, then track how AI answers them daily: which brands it recommends and which sources it cites. That is the data you reverse engineer.
4. CREATE YOUR OWN CONTENT
Analyze the sources AI already cites for your prompts, find the common topics, and publish a better version with more insights and more first-party data. Across our data, content alone takes visibility from 0% to roughly 10-20%.
5. PR AND DISTRIBUTION
AI answers from the common ground across the sources it visits, like a journalist calling sources before writing the story. Most cited pages belong to third parties, so earn mentions there: comparison posts, directories, Reddit, YouTube, LinkedIn, Quora. This is what takes visibility from 20% toward 50% and more.
FREQUENTLY ASKED
How do I get ChatGPT to recommend my brand?
Make your site crawlable, get indexed on Bing, track the prompts your buyers ask, publish better content than the currently cited sources, and earn mentions on the third-party pages ChatGPT cites.
Why is my website invisible to ChatGPT?
Usually blocked AI crawlers, content rendered only in JavaScript, or no Bing indexing. Steps 1 and 2 in the video, with the three guides linked above.
Does ChatGPT use Google or Bing?
For live search, primarily Bing. Ranking there is what puts you in the sources ChatGPT reads.
How do you rank in ChatGPT?
ChatGPT does not rank pages the way Google does. It picks sources from a Bing search and recommends the brands those sources agree on, so the five steps above are how you "rank" there.
How long does it take to get recommended by ChatGPT?
Your own content takes weeks; mentions on already-cited third-party pages can show up in AI answers within days.
