Michigan Sustainable Business Forum hosted a webinar to explore the role corporate partners can play in strengthening infrastructure for the rescue or distribution of food through the charitable food system. Across Michigan and beyond, food security organizations are working to move safe, sometime-surplus food quickly and efficiently into communities, but many face persistent capacity challenges related to cold storage, transportation, staffing, logistics, and coordination.
This panel highlighted non-food companies making meaningful investments to address food insecurity through strategic investments in capacity building and infrastructure for food distribution or rescue. Speakers shared how corporate giving, equipment donation, logistics expertise, employee engagement, and strategic partnerships can help build the infrastructure needed to scale food rescue and increase access to nutritious food.
Featured Speakers:
Hannah Hoskins, Executive Director, Lineage Foundation for Good
Kyle Trewhella, Senior Manager, Sustainable Sales, Whirlpool Corporation / Feel Good Fridge Program
