Malappuram Kanji Video: After enjoying various snacks and drinks from Perinthalmanna to Malappuram town, we decided to have some kanji as breakfast. Kanji is one of the candid breakfasts that we can enjoy in Kerala. Our day was, to begin with, a kanji from Babuttykka's Kanjikkada. After a short drive, we reached the shop located beside a cassava farm. As expected, kanjikkada was an unassuming shop with sufficient seating arrangements. We saw fish fry being done on a firewood stove that used sawdust instead. When we entered the kitchen, preparations were in full swing for the kanji, curries, and lunch. There was rice, kanji, and many curries. Babuttykka happily told us that they provide kanji and curries in as many quantities as we wish to eat. Fish fry costs extra, which is normal. We sat down for kanji, and were served kanji, cassava curry, coconut chutney, chili chutney and fish fry (we ordered it additionally). The watery cassava curry was quite different from the cassava preparations that we have in Kottayam. But I liked it with kanji. The fish fry was also the kind suited for kanji. Chutneys were tasty too. A heavy lunch waiting for us, and this was the reason why we limited our breakfast to a simple kanji. It was a good decision, I felt.
