The Real Threat to Britain’s Countryside

There is a “War on the Countryside”, according to us landowners and aristocrats. We’re right. But not how you’d think. Each year, shooting estates release 50 million non-native pheasants into the British Countryside. More than the weight of all other wild birds in the British Countryside combined. The Government has released a Call to Evidence, to investigate this ‘age-old’ tradition and see whether it might now need to be properly regulated. Or even, banned.
