Lyrics :
Far beyond the border where the iron furnaces freeze,
An ancient sickness twisted through the petrified trees!
Beneath the ash and timber where the furnace used to blow,
A massive shape of ironwood rose from down below!
A skull of rusted iron with the moss upon the brow,
Twisted boughs like slagged-out iron across the elder bough!
It wasn't feeding on the flesh, but drinking in the soot,
Crushing down the granite shelves beneath a heavy foot!
(*Anvil is striking! Spark in the soot!*)
I gripped the brass soundboard and planted my foot!
(*Bark turns to iron! Clear the dry brush!*)
A warden breaks the poison in the suffocating hush!
Iron on the granite! Horns of the tree!
(*Sever the slag! Set the old forest free!*)
Brass wires roaring through the smoke and the gray!
(*Drive the Crown of Rot from the industrial clay!*)
Blue light flashing! Steel meets the wood!
Ending the corruption where the smelter stood!
The timber beast lunged with a petrified claw,
Spitting out the slag-dust from a jagged wooden jaw!
I parried with the cold steel, sparks across the night,
Slashing through the knotted boughs to bring the creature light!
I tuned the brass soundboard to the furnace's pitch,
Struck a resonant shockwave without a single hitch!
The sonic strike shattered through the iron-woven bark,
Splintering the wooden heart inside the heavy dark!
(*Shackle is cracking! Watch the high bough!*)
I stepped through the brambles and drove the steel now!
(*Vines turn to ash! Coals turning cold!*)
Ending the decay where the centuries rolled!
Flashed the blue lantern across the shattered crest...
Freezing out the rot inside the monster’s chest.
The ironwood splintered... collapsed into the loam...
Letting morning filter back across the warden's home.
The furnace grove went quiet... the rot was burned away...
Just the rustle of the ash beneath the dawn of gray.
Wiped the soot from my cold steel, strapped the soundboard tight...
Leaving the silent timber in the morning light.
