Reading station is on the Great Western Mainline and is a major transport hub in Berkshire. It is served by Great Western Railway, CrossCountry, South Western Railway and the Elizabeth Line. GWR provides the majority of train services that call here. Destinations served include London Paddington, Cardiff Central, Swansea, Bristol Temple Meads, Exeter St Davids, Basingstoke, Didcot Parkway, Great Malvern and Gatwick Airport. CrossCountry have trains running between Manchester Piccadilly and Bournemouth, as well as Stockport, Stoke-on-Trent, Birmingham New Street, Oxford and Southampton Central. They also run less frequent services further afield, to Leeds, Derby, York and Newcastle. South Western Railway runs shuttle trains to London Waterloo via Wokingham, Richmond, Clapham Junction and Vauxhall. The Elizabeth Line runs to Abbey Wood via Maidenhead, Slough, Hayes & Harlington, London Paddington, London Liverpool Street and Canary Wharf.
