Honor Magic 8 Pro — Camera Glass Replacement (Full DIY Repair) The camera lens glass on my Honor Magic 8 Pro cracked, so instead of paying a repair shop I replaced it myself. In this video I go through the entire process, step by step, including the parts most tutorials skip: what the adhesive actually does, how much heat is safe, and how to prep the surface so the new glass sits flush and doesn't lift after a week. Everything here is done without opening the phone. The camera glass sits on top of the module, so if you work carefully you never touch the internals and the seal around the sensors stays intact. The adhesive under the lens glass softens around 60–70°C. A hairdryer or a low-setting heat gun held at distance works — the goal is warm, not hot. Too much heat travels into the camera module and can affect the sensors or the internal adhesive holding the phone together. You can apply a tape as I do but it's not a must. Removal. Cracked glass comes off in fragments so lift from a corner, never push down into the module. Cleaning. Old adhesive has to come off completely. Isopropyl alcohol 99% and a plastic scraper. Any residue left behind creates a gap under the new glass, which shows up as reflections in your shots and lets dust in. Surface prep. This is the step that decides whether the repair lasts. The bonding surface has to be perfectly flat, dry and dust-free before the new glass goes on. Work in a low-dust environment and do a final wipe right before bonding. Installation. Align before you press. Once the adhesive makes contact you get one attempt — sliding it into position afterwards smears the glue across the lens area. Extras After the camera glass, I also replaced the display screen protector with a new tempered glass one, and fitted a case that covers the camera bump. That last part matters more than it sounds: most camera glass breaks because the lens ring sits higher than the case edge, so the module takes the impact first when the phone goes down face-up. A case with a raised camera lip is the cheapest way to avoid doing this repair a second time.
