Giza, 2560 BC. The Nile flood has covered the fields, and thousands of people are walking toward something the world has never seen: the Great Pyramid of Pharaoh Khufu.
In this video you become Nefer, a 15-year-old worker on the team of Merer, a real inspector whose diary was discovered at Wadi al-Jarf in 2013. You'll cut stone with copper chisels, haul blocks over wet sand, watch a priest sight the northern stars, eat bread in the workers' town, and step inside the Grand Gallery and the King's Chamber.
Three mysteries: How were 2.3 million blocks moved without iron or pulleys? Why do the pyramid's sides face the cardinal directions so precisely, without a compass? And what is inside the Great Pyramid, including why Khufu's mummy was never found?
