They were the largest guns ever built. Almost none of them survive. They were Hitler's super guns — artillery scaled past every reasonable limit, built to crack fortresses that conventional shells could not touch. Steel on a scale that needed rail lines to move and crews numbering in the hundreds. Weapons designed to end sieges by arriving at all. For eighty years the easy answer has been that they were destroyed in the fighting. Bombed, shelled, blown apart by the war they were built for. That isn't what happened. Because the guns that fired and the guns that never fired met almost the same end. The ones the Allies hunted and the ones the Allies never found. The ones abandoned intact and the ones captured whole. Same steel. Same war. Different fates. Same result. In this video: why the Reich kept building artillery too large to hide; what these weapons were actually meant to do and how rarely they got to do it; who decided their fate once the shooting stopped; and why the men who owned them at the end had reasons of their own for making them disappear. What is left today is measured in fragments — a barrel section, a mounting, a concrete emplacement holding nothing. This is what happened to the guns. 🔔 New videos every week.
