Mike Flanagan's Carrie Remake Has a 3-Season Plan & A "5x Harder" Prom Sequence

At TIFF 2026, Collider’s Perri Nemiroff sits down with showrunner Mike Flanagan and star Summer H. Howell to break down their highly anticipated adaptation of Stephen King’s CARRIE. In this exclusive interview at the Collider Media Studio (brought to you by Campari and The Cayman Islands), Flanagan discusses getting feedback directly from Stephen King, his 3-season roadmap for the series, directing a female-led roster of directors, and why filming the iconic prom scene was five times harder than anything he’s ever done—including The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass. Plus, Summer H. Howell shares her fresh take on Carrie White, tackling the famous shower scene, and acting alongside Tim Bagley. Stick around until the end for updates on Mike Flanagan’s upcoming The Exorcist movie and his script for a new version of The Mist! 00:00 - Introduction & reuniting at TIFF 2026 00:32 - How Mike Flanagan expanded Stephen King's iconic novel 01:54 - Getting feedback directly from Stephen King 02:09 - Mike Flanagan’s 3-season roadmap for Carrie 03:07 - Summer H.
