Life in Switzerland | Inside Europe’s Alpine Paradise | 4K High above the valleys, summer arrives slowly. The snow begins to retreat from the lower slopes, wildflowers spread across the grass, and small herds move through the mountain pastures. Sheep, cattle, and goats spend the warmer months grazing in these high meadows, while shepherds follow a routine that has been repeated for generations. Down below, the scenery becomes softer. Forests climb the hillsides, streams cut through green valleys, and clear lakes sit between mountains like pieces of glass. There are around 1,500 lakes across the country, while the Alps supply water to some of Europe's great rivers.
