HS2 Construction - Warwickshire A46, River Avon and Stoneleigh Royal Showground - 2025-03-09

Filmed on 9th March 2025. Warwickshire A46 (between Coventry and Warwick), River Avon and Stoneleigh Royal Showground - now known as the National Agricultural and Exhibition Centre (NAEC). Yes, it is the River Avon which flows to Stratford-upon-Avon ! Near the confluence with the River Sowe, flowing from Coventry. Map of location: http://www.thehs2.com/phase1/maps/twe... Some of the cars driving on the showground are part of the 'Young Driver' scheme. The A46 was closed for approximately three weeks (from 8pm Friday 11 April until just before midnight on Tuesday 29 April 2025), for the A46 to be excavated and the concrete 'box push' to be performed. According to HS2/Balfour Beatty VINCI (BBV): "This will involve a jacking mechanism, designed by specialist civil and structural engineering company Freyssinet, which will push the box across on a guiding raft at a speed of up to 2.5 metres per hour for a total distance of 64 metres." Severe fines will be imposed by the Highways Agency (@NationalHighways) for any extension to the A46 closure, beyond the agreed three weeks.
