Are You Teaching the CESA Effectively? Instructor Positioning & Setup

Teaching the Controlled Emergency Swimming Ascent (CESA) is more than demonstrating the skill—it also requires good organization, positioning, supervision, and control of the training environment. Performance Requirement: Simulate a controlled emergency swimming ascent by swimming horizontally or diagonally for at least 9 metres/30 feet while emitting a continuous sound. In this professional development video, we break down how to set up and teach the CESA in confined water, with a focus on instructor positioning, student organization, and creating an effective setup for meeting the performance requirement.
