Featuring a tour-de-force performance by Colin Blakely as Joseph Stalin alongside David Suchet in a terrifyingly brilliant turn as secret police chief Lavrentiy Beria, restored in high-definition Full HD (1080p)! THE PLOT: Get a darkly comedic, backstage pass into the final, paranoid months of Joseph Stalin’s (Colin Blakely) tyrannical regime. Based on the subversive short stories by Soviet dissident Yuriy Korotkov, the narrative exposes an inner circle paralyzed by fear, where a single wrong smile can mean a trip to the gulag. As Stalin's psychological health deteriorates and his paranoia grows to dangerous levels, he begins to view his closest allies and terrified yes-men as highly unreliable traitors. Orchestrating a bizarre, high-stakes game of psychological warfare, Stalin manipulates his sycophantic subordinates, including the sinister head of the secret police, Lavrentiy Beria (David Suchet). Expertly blending historical precision with scathing farce, "Red Monarch" uncovers the grotesque reality of a nation governed by the unpredictable whims of a madman. A BITING HISTORICAL SATIRE IN HD: Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Jack Gold (The Medusa Touch), "Red Monarch" is a rare British television masterpiece that brilliantly skewers totalitarianism. Featuring an all-star cast including Colin Blakely, David Suchet, Carroll Baker, and Ian Bannen, this fully restored HD edition highlights every subtle performance, dark joke, and tense exchange in pristine clarity. 🎭 Did you enjoy this sharp political satire and dark comedy classic?
