While fellow Hull musicians such as Mick Ronson and Robert Palmer would eventually find success elsewhere, Bare Sole managed only a handful of out-of-town gigs and a tour of US air bases in Germany during their short life. Fortunately, their entire recorded legacy survived thanks to a fiery 1969 session at Fairview Studios. Assisted by writer and producer Keith Herd and backed by an enthusiastic local poultry farmer, the band captured their primitive garage energy in one explosive session: fuzz guitar, wah-wah, Farfisa organ, heavy blues and a rawness that sounded both rooted in the garage era and pointed toward heavier rock to come. Their demo was rejected by Decca, but Bare Sole continued playing alongside acts including Family, Status Quo, The Move and Small Faces before finally calling it a day in 1970.
