Col Sandhu had organised the Majha Ex Serviceman Human Rights front which was solely dedicated to its cause for supporting the victims of excesses by likes of Poohla and some notorious cops who had been misusing their positions to gain promotions and win rewards by faking stories of bravado. Ajit Singh Poohla was their main front man who would provide young men to these shady cops and in return would take favours from them.
