BMW i5 LWB: BMW’s replacement to the diesel 5 Series | Drive Review | evo India

The BMW i5 LWB is the electric 5 Series that replaces the diesel engine in India. It is priced at ₹79.6 lakh (ex-showroom). With an 81.6kWh battery, it makes 264bhp, does 0-100 in 6.7 seconds and has a claimed MIDC range of 669km. It gets 20-inch wheels with staggered tyres — 245 front, 275 rear — air suspension at the rear, BMW's curved display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a cabin that feels genuinely expensive the moment you sit in it. To benchmark it, we put the Tesla Model Y alongside it, which is the world's best-selling car. The Tesla has a smaller 63kWh battery, 295bhp, 0-100 in 5.9 seconds, and a WLTP range of 500km.
