ACAPULCO '84 ✦ 80s Cumbia Costeña on Electric Guitar & Tropical Grooves [2 Hour Mix] | Neon Import

It's 3 a.m. in Acapulco, 1984, and the band in the stone-walled club on the Costera is still playing cumbia costeña. The house lights are about to come on. Out on the bay a couple of yachts are still lit up. Up at La Quebrada, the last diver went in with his torches hours ago. The guitarist lets the last note ring and puts one finger up at you. Not yet. The guy on synth never looks up from the keys, and his friend by the door is on another cigarette. A clean electric guitar carries the tune while a second one answers between the notes, the amp tremolo pulsing under both. Congas up front with the güiro right behind them. A drum machine with a gated snare holds an easy sway. Two hours of cumbia costeña, cumbia guerrerense, 80s tropical cumbia and coast-road cassette grooves, recorded to tape and never released. Leave it on for work, or for the drive out to Pie de la Cuesta. Or stay till they turn the lights on. Imported after dark. ✦ Sounds like: a clean guitar with the amp tremolo pulsing, a second guitar answering it, congas with the güiro behind, gated snare, a cassette from a stand on the coast road ✦ Good for: Focus, Late Night Coding, Deep Work, Driving ✦ Another city, same hour: KINGSTON '85, dub trombone cut to tape →    • KINGSTON '85 ✦ 80s Roots Reggae Dub & a Tr...   ✦ Or VERACRUZ '85, sax cumbia under the portales →    • VERACRUZ '85 ✦ 80s Cumbia del Sureste, the...   ✦ Or CORPUS CHRISTI '87, tejano cumbia down on the Gulf →    • CORPUS CHRISTI '87 ✦ 80s Cumbia Tejana the...   ✦ Or SAN ANTONIO '87, cumbia tejana on a bajo sexto →    • SAN ANTONIO '87 ✦ 80s Cumbia Tejana with a...   ✦ All cities →    • All Cities: 80s Night Drive Mixes | Neon I...   📌 Tracklist / Timestamps: 00:00 Guitarra Tropical en la Costera - Tropical Guitar Cumbia 03:08 Calandrias Frente al Mar - Guerrero Coast Cumbia 06:08 Vochos Azules del Sitio - Late Taxi Grooves 08:43 Hornos con la Marea Baja - Low Tide Synth Groove 11:59 Pozole Verde de Jueves - Cumbia Guerrerense 15:04 Puesto de Cocos en Icacos - Coconut Stand Grooves 17:57 Luces de la Bahia desde el Mirador - Bay Lights Night Drive 20:51 Laureles del Zocalo - Acapulco Cumbia 24:03 Lanchas Amarradas en el Malecon - Malecon Night Cumbia 27:37 Muelle Fiscal sin Barcos - Empty Pier Grooves 30:50 Ventilador de Techo en la Pension - Ceiling Fan Cumbia 33:53 Hotel Viejo de la Peninsula - Old Hotel Synth Groove 37:12 Costa Grande Rumbo a Zihuatanejo - Costa Grande Night Drive 40:31 Cupulas de la Catedral Cerrada - Old Port Cumbia 43:29 La Fabrica de Hielo - Ice Plant Cold Wave 46:42 Martinete en la Costera - Pile Driver Cumbia 49:24 Chicharras en El Veladero - Cicada Synth Cumbia 52:10 Bocina del Crucero - Cruise Ship Grooves 55:16 Camiones del Mercado Central - Market Truck Cumbia 58:48 Esmeril en el Taller de Lanchas - Boatyard Drum Machine 1:01:52 Ventanilla Abierta hacia Pie de la Cuesta - Open Window Night Drive 1:04:51 Bahia sin Luna - Moonless Bay Cumbia 1:07:36 La Virgen Sumergida - Underwater Synth Groove 1:10:31 Fuerte de San Diego a Oscuras - Dark Fort Cumbia 1:13:46 Clavadista en La Quebrada - Cliff Diver Grooves 1:17:27 Curvas de la Escenica - Scenic Highway Night Drive 1:20:46 Faro de La Roqueta - Lighthouse Guitar Cumbia 1:23:51 La Ultima Fonda de Caletilla - Late Night Fonda Cumbia 1:26:45 Neon de la Condesa - Neon Strip Synth Cumbia 1:29:47 Las Tres en la Condesa - 3 AM Tropical Cumbia 1:32:42 Trompo al Pastor de Madrugada - Al Pastor Grooves 1:35:24 Yates Iluminados en la Bahia - Yacht Lights Cumbia 1:38:26 Elotero en Papagayo - Street Corn Cumbia 1:41:15 Panaderia de Noche en la Progreso - Night Bakery Grooves 1:44:21 Glorieta de la Diana Iluminada - Roundabout Lights Synth Groove 1:47:08 Primera Luz en Puerto Marques - First Light Tropical Guitar 1:50:22 Pescadores de Caleta - Fishermen's Cumbia 1:53:24 Motor de Lancha a La Roqueta - Outboard Motor Grooves 1:56:10 Pelicanos en Tlacopanocha - Pelican Morning Cumbia 1:59:10 Rastrillando la Arena del Hotel - Hotel Morning Grooves 2:02:24 Amanecer sobre la Bahia de Santa Lucia - Pacific Sunrise Cumbia 2:05:18 Ultima Guitarra en la Costera - Acapulco Dawn Outro ✦ INSPIRED BY: Conjunto Acapulco Tropical • Conjunto Mar Azul • Rigo Tovar y su Costa Azul • Mike Laure y sus Cometas • Chico Che y La Crisis © Neon Import.
