Well, it took me quite a while to finish it for such a short piece.
Originally written for solo piano as part of his 1892 collection Morceaux de fantaisie ("Pieces of fantasy"), this 62-bar masterpiece in ternary (ABA) form is famous for its sweeping emotional range and powerful, heavy bass tones, often nicknamed "The Bells of Moscow" for how its opening chords echo the solemn carillon chimes of the Kremlin.
First premiered by Rachmaninoff himself at the Moscow Electrical Exhibition, the piece instantly captivated audiences and sparked the creation of his full cycle of 24 preludes across all major and minor keys.

PS: I don't know why I added a custom Introduction to it. Maybe I wanted more space to use the timpani and cymbals?
