This mix is a proper throwback to my early 2000s tech house roots — a time when I was living in London, travelling up to Liverpool to see my girlfriend (now wife), and spending every spare pound digging through crates at Swag Records (Croydon), X Records, and 3 Beat Music (Liverpool). For this instalment of my Vinyl Only Origin Story series, I’m pulling out gems from two influential East Coast US labels: Maya Recordings — known for its deep, chunky, tribal‑leaning tech house sound. Maya releases were staples in the bags of DJs who wanted groove-led, hypnotic, late‑night energy. Big Chief Records — a sister label with a slightly tougher, more percussive edge. Big Chief cuts were built for proper dancefloors: raw, rolling, and unmistakably East Coast. These labels shaped a huge part of my early DJ identity. If you’re into early 2000s tech house, tribal grooves, or just love the feel of real vinyl, this one’s for you. Tracklisting Maya 1. El Amor (Mucho Drums Mix) - Joeski & Chus 2. A Night On Clery St (DJulz Dub) - Joeski & DJulz 3. Out Of The Jungle (Joeski's Mix) Big Chief 4. Unosaxomas (Joeski Mix) - 5. Hill St Blues (Master D's Casa Mix) - DJ Foxx & DJ Sensé 6. Peeping Tom (Original Mix) - Jay Tripwire 7. Don't Make Me Wait - Tribalation (Grant Dell / Gareth Oxby)
