📕 The Fresh Home Method — the fifteen minutes a day, written down: https://sachikohome.shop
My grandmother's kitchen was tiny. Far smaller than the one I stand in now. Almost no cabinets, no pantry, no gadgets, and no plastic bins with little labels on them — and I never once saw it messy. She could put her hand on anything she needed with her eyes closed.
It took me years in America to understand that she was not simply a tidy person. She followed a few quiet rules about where things live, and those rules did all the work for her.
These are the eleven mistakes almost everyone makes, and not one of them costs a dollar to fix. In fact, one of the eleven is that you are already buying far too many organizers.
CHAPTERS
00:00 It is not your fault
01:14 1. You store things where there is space, not where you use them
02:12 2. You treat the counter as a shelf
02:58 3. You keep a junk drawer — probably more than one
03:54 4. You keep so much that everything is crammed
04:33 5. You stack instead of standing things up
05:25 6. You let things float with no fixed home
06:07 7. You scatter the things you use together
07:22 8. You keep duplicates and just-in-case multiples
08:14 9. The backs of your deep shelves are black holes
08:53 10. You ignore the vertical space and the backs of doors
09:32 11. You buy organizers before you have removed anything
10:29 The single thread through all eleven
WHAT IS IN THIS ONE
Japanese kitchen organization without buying a single bin. Why the biggest mistake is storing things where they fit instead of where you use them, and how to fix it in one walk through the room. Why a counter is a workspace and not storage. Why standing things upright — lids, trays, boards, pans — beats stacking, and why a bookshop is the right model for a cabinet. How to build small stations so the tools for one job live together. Why a deep shelf swallows what you put in it. And the order that makes all of it work: remove first, arrange second, and only then decide whether you ever needed the organizer.
Small kitchen ideas, cabinet organization, drawer organization and decluttering — done the way it was done in a kitchen a fraction the size of yours.
