Bishop Dag Heward-Mills preaching "Honor Your Father" at the Build Them Up Weekend, Cathedral of Praise, Manila, Sunday 25 October 2026. From Exodus 20:12, Dag Heward-Mills teaches that honoring your father is the fifth commandment and the first that carries a promise: that it may be well with you and that you may live long. He applies it to natural fathers and to the spiritual fathers God gives a church. He explains the curse in Malachi 4:6, where the hearts of the fathers and the children must turn to each other. From John 8:49 ("I have not a devil; but I honour my Father"), he shows how dishonor opens the door to evil spirits. He also teaches that honor releases power (Mark 6), that you honor a father by adapting to him and paying attention to his words, and that you honor him with your substance (Galatians 6:6). The message ends with an altar call and prayer for the sick. 0:00 "I do not have a demon, but I honor my father" (cold open) 0:22 Welcome and opening prayer 5:01 Honor Your Father (Exodus 20:12) 6:04 Ten thousand instructors, not many fathers (1 Corinthians 4:15) 14:09 1.
