Sally (Pride of Our Alley) is the debut album by British tenor Gerry Monroe,  who first came to public attention through the UK TV talent show Opportunity Knocks. His unusual high‑tenor voice made him a standout contestant, and his success on the show led directly to his recording contract with producer Les Reed. His distinctive high voice made him a popular figure in UK light entertainment. The  album features his hit single “Sally”, a revival of Gracie Fields’ classic, alongside sentimental standards such as “Danny Boy,” “Bless ’Em All,” and “My Prayer.” Arranged in a traditional pop style with orchestral backing, the album showcases Monroe’s clear tenor tone and nostalgic appeal typical of early‑1970s British variety music. Gerry Monroe passed away in 1989.
