Steam ejector operation. Animation by Croll Reynolds (www.croll.com). Steam-ejectors use a motivating fluid (steam) and pressure-to-velocity energy conversion to create vacuum. Croll Reynolds is one of the earliest companies to develop Steam Jet Ejector technology and enhance its efficiency and design in both single nozzle design & Multi nozzle design technology. Nozzles convert high-pressure steam to high-velocity stem in the mixing chamber. Steam and entrained air travel down the diffuser, losing kinetic energy and increasing pressure. Steam ejectors handle high volumes of gasses, including wet, corrosive, or particulate-laden vapors. Steam ejectors operate in rough or medium vacuum range (760-0.02 torr) with operating pressures to 0.003 torr. Steam ejectors' low-maintenance design has no moving parts and can be mounted in any orientation. Systems can contain up to six ejector stages, determined by the level of vacuum required. W-Stage Ejector X-Stage Ejector XY Condenser Y-Stage Ejector YZ Condenser Z-stage Ejector Condensers remove steam from the system and reduce load on later stages. Steam ejector systems provide the lowest capital costs among vacuum process pumps.
