Sketch #4 ✏️ | I Finally Tried Drawing Hair!

Welcome to Sketch #4 of The Sketch Log ✏️ This sketch was a big step outside my comfort zone. Just like in Sketch #3, I started with a few basic drawing exercises from BrokenDraw to warm up my hand and practice lines, shapes, and control before moving on to the actual sketch. For Sketch #4, I decided to attempt something that initially looked way too advanced for me — drawing and shading a woman's hair. This was part of the online drawing class I attend once a week, and when I first saw the reference, I wasn't sure I was ready to try something like this. But there was only one way to find out! I started with simple shapes to establish the head and hair bun before slowly building the drawing through shading, smudging, layering, highlights, and individual hair strands. One of the biggest things I learned from this sketch was the importance of following the direction and flow of the hair while shading and blending. Sketch #4 taught me that sometimes you just have to try.
