🖤 Ghost Protocol - out now on all platforms 🖤
From KIMIKO TORA's album Ghost Protocol — atmospheric alternative metal.
The whole album has been her trying to be heard by someone who stopped listening. This is the song where she gives up on the person and starts asking the void instead. Praying to something that was never going to answer. Leaving messages on a machine that doesn't call back.
It's about the stage of losing someone where you'll take anything. A sign, a text, the sound of their voice one more time. You start bargaining with the silence itself. You leave the porch light on for a ghost. You whisper their name to an empty passenger seat. And you keep believing, not because you think it'll work, but because stopping would mean it's really over.
The line that says it: "I'm on my knees for a god that won't speak." That's what it turns into. Not a relationship anymore, just a religion with nobody in it. You, kneeling in the dark, keeping the faith for both of you.
The bridge is the smallest she gets. Not asking for a miracle, not asking for a sign. Just the sound of your voice, one more time. That's all that's left of her.
If you've ever begged the silence to give someone back, this one is yours.
Thank you for still being here.

Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
I've been sending my voice into empty rooms
I've been leaving my prayers on the answering machine
I've been building an altar out of everything you took
And I'm burning it slow just to see if you'll come clean
I've been asking the ceiling what I did wrong
I've been asking the mirror what I'm still worth
I've been asking the silence if it's holding you close
And the silence just keeps giving me nothing back
[Pre-Chorus]
And I know you can hear me
And I know you won't say
But I'll keep on believing
'Til I've got nothing left to pray
[Chorus]
Answer me, answer me, answer me now
I'm on my knees for a god that won't speak
Answer me, answer me, answer me now
I'm praying to the machine, praying to the machine
I'll keep my faith in the empty air
I'll keep my hands together in the dark
Answer me, answer me, answer me now
Even the silence is breaking my heart
[Verse 2]
I've been counting the days that I stopped hearing back
I've been counting the nights that I stayed on the line
I've been counting the ways that I begged you to answer
And the number keeps rising like a debt I can't pay
I've been tracing your name in the fog on the window
I've been whispering yours to the empty passenger seat
I've been leaving the porch light on for a ghost
And the ghost keeps taking the long way home
[Pre-Chorus]
And I know you can hear me
And I know you won't say
But I'll keep on believing
'Til I've got nothing left to pray
[Chorus]
Answer me, answer me, answer me now
I'm on my knees for a god that won't speak
Answer me, answer me, answer me now
I'm praying to the machine, praying to the machine
I'll keep my faith in the empty air
I'll keep my hands together in the dark
Answer me, answer me, answer me now
Even the silence is breaking my heart
[Bridge]
I don't need a miracle
I don't need a sign
I just need the sound of your voice
One more time
I just need the sound of your voice
One more time
I just need the sound of your voice
One more time
[Final Chorus]
Answer me, answer me, answer me now
I'm on my knees for a god that won't speak
Answer me, answer me, answer me now
I'm praying to the machine, praying to the machine
I'll keep my faith in the empty air
I'll keep my hands together in the dark
Answer me, answer me, answer me now
Even the silence is breaking my heart
Answer me, answer me, answer me now
Answer me, answer me, answer me now
Praying to the machine, praying to the machine
[Outro]
Answer me
