This is a 30 minute video demonstrating 4 different Yamaha C trumpets. I have recorded 12 excerpts from 10 different pieces - each excerpt recorded 4 times - once on each trumpet - for a total of 48 excerpts. The video was recorded "live" at Copley Symphony Hall in San Diego, CA with the only edits being cuts in between the excerpts. The C Trumpets used: Yamaha Chicago Gen 1 Yamaha Chicago Gen 3 Yamaha New York YS bell Gen 3 Yamaha New York YM bell Gen 3 All excerpts played on a Wedge Mouthpiece: Chris Smith M Cup 25 throat with an M 25 Backbore. I recorded using a Zoom Q2HD recording device setup in the front row of the balcony. Excerpts: Beethoven - Leonore 3 Mussorgsky - Pictures at an Exhibition: Promenade Respighi - Pines of Rome: Offstage Solo 2nd Mvt Bartok - Concerto for Orchestra: 2 excerpts from Mvt 1 Gershwin - An American in Paris Strauss - Ein Heldenleben: 1 excerpt from Tpt 1 in Bb Stravinsky - Petrouchka Mahler - Symphony 5: 2 excerpts from Mvt 1 Strauss - Don Juan Strauss - Ein Alpine Symphonie: 2 excerpts Please note - these excerpts are not "perfect" nor are they "audition ready" - they are, however, indicative of what the orchestral trumpet player can expect to encounter in an audition setting or over the course of a season or two. Nonetheless, even with some minor flaws, you should be able to hear the differences between these trumpets. This video was made out of sheer curiosity as I currently have access to all 4 trumpets and a concert hall to record in at the moment.
