Marano Lagunare San Vio 2025

Every June, Marano Lagunare comes alive for the Festa de San Vio — a celebration where centuries-old tradition, the lagoon and the people of Marano come together. From the early morning procession of the Saints’ relics aboard the fishing boats, through the blessing of the waters and the remembrance of those who never returned from the sea, the lagoon becomes the heart of the celebration. Then the mood changes — the boats become racing boats for the Palio Remiero, with the historic districts of Marano competing on the water, while music, dancing, laughter and the smell of freshly prepared lagoon food fill the old fish market. And finally comes the legendary Pal de la Cucagna: a greased wooden pole stretched out over the lagoon, with competitors desperately trying to walk its slippery length and reach the flag at the end — usually ending rather spectacularly in the water. 😄 Two days of boats, tradition, music, food, competition and above all the unmistakable spirit of a lagoon community that knows how to celebrate.
