The Brazilian Celebration Nobody Told Me About | Festa Junina

When I moved to Brazil, I knew about Carnival, football, beaches, Rio, and the Amazon. But somehow, nobody told me about Festa Junina. I discovered it during my first year in Brazil, and it quickly became one of my favourite times of the year. From quadrilha and mechanical bulls to canjica, pamonha, and some very strong opinions about curau de milho, Festa Junina has become one of the parts of Brazilian culture I enjoy experiencing the most. And here in Brasília, it doesn't even seem to be just a month anymore... it's a season. In this video, I'm sharing my experience with Festa Junina as a Canadian living in Brazil — what I love about it, the food I can't get enough of, the things I'm still trying to understand, and why I think more foreigners should experience it.
