Jamie McMahon & Chris Kaufman: Iowa 1997 Manhunt | The FBI Files | S4 E10

A quiet Iowa morning erupts into a 1,000-mile chase after a bank heist, two murders, and a stolen green pickup spark a multi-state manhunt. From the killing of farmhand Barbara Garber in Oskaloosa to the Gibson Savings Bank robbery netting $65,000, agents trace a .22 caliber trail across six states. Clues pile up: a blue station wagon at dawn, a duffel sunk in the Des Moines River, and Instamatic photos that reveal more than the suspects intended. As meth-fueled decisions escalate, the search closes in on Florida, where a motel room, a terrified third man, and a single phone call tip the balance. What did “just do it” really set in motion? And how did a negotiator turn a deadly standoff into a pivotal choice? Step inside The FBI Files for the full investigation, the forensic links, and the tense conversations you were never meant to hear. Watch now to see how the pieces connect before the final door opens. #TheFBIFiles #TrueCrime #Iowa #Manhunt #FBI #BankRobbery #1997 #Documentary
