If you're a business owner who wants to run a more successful business and use it to build long-term wealth, subscribe. New episodes drop every Monday. And if there's a topic you want me to cover, let me know in the comments. I watched a drag car blow its engine apart at the end of a run. The crew rebuilt it in half an hour, sent it down the strip again, and it blew up again. That's exactly how I ran my business, and myself, in the early years. I was flat out on site, then in the office at night, then trying to find time to grow a family alongside the business. Friday would come, I'd decompress over the weekend, tell myself I was fine and go again. Then something would break, whether that was my health or the business. Nobody builds a drag car to last. It's built to give everything for a few seconds and then self-destruct. I'd built myself the same way, and I called it drive. In this episode I share how I'm rebuilding for the long haul. A cruising gear instead of redline. Recovery time I schedule, instead of only getting it after a blow up. Preventative maintenance, which my business coach brought up and which took me straight back to my years on the oil rigs. And systems and a team, so the business doesn't need my foot flat to the floor. The years I went flat out gave me my biggest revenue. They also gave me my biggest burnouts. Now I've got more energy for better decisions, and something left in the tank for my family at the end of the day. If you've been running your business on redline and calling it drive, this episode gives you one place to start. In this episode: -The drag car video that made me realise I'd been running my business on redline -Why entrepreneur burnout keeps coming back when you sprint all week, crash on the weekend and go again -What redlining looked like for me: on site all day, the office at night, and trying to fit in family -The objections that kept me flat out, like "going flat out is what made me successful" -Finding a cruising gear, and the jet plane analogy for pushing hard then cruising -How to prevent burnout with scheduled recovery time, instead of time you only get after a blow up -Tuning for consistency over peak performance, and protecting sleep, health and energy -Preventative maintenance, from pulling apart mud pumps and generators on the oil rigs before they broke -How to scale a business without burning out by building systems and a team that don't need you flooring it -Measuring in years, not laps, by asking "can I still do this in ten years?" -What changed: more energy, and being able to book things two, three, four months out -The one thing to try this week: find where you're redlining and drop a gear on purpose Connect with Tim: Instagram: @timsayce (  / timsayce  ) Linkedin:   / tim-sayce-658a2616b   Website: https://kaikonstruct.com.au/about/tim... 00:00 The drag car that blows up every run 01:42 Running my business on redline 03:32 Nobody builds a drag car to last 04:50 Will slowing down cost me my edge 05:37 Building an engine for the long haul 06:49 Finding a cruising gear 08:05 Consistency over peak performance 08:30 Preventative maintenance for business owners 09:33 Systems and team so the business runs without you 10:52 What changed when I stopped redlining 11:31 Drop a gear this week 13:12 You're in a decade long run Foundations & Futures is for ambitious business owners who want their business to build long-term family wealth, freedom and opportunity.
