Baird Glacier iceberg pool visit

Baird Glacier currently dumps calved icebergs into a 1 mile by 1 mile pool created by a deep terminal moraine that almost, but not completely, spans the width of the inlet. Various websites suggest the pool contains icebergs that have calved over several years at any one time. We came to think of the pool as an "used car lot" of icebergs. The iceberg pool is currently accessible by dinghy at higher tides through the outflow stream, which we did on the August 6th 2026 evening high tide.
