Victory Gardens W.W. 1 & 2 -1/2

In support of the war efforts, the U.S. government researched, assembled and distributed information about home and community gardening. Radio spots, newspaper slogans and colorful posters were all employed in an effort to ensure a reliable food supply. Extension agents, meetings and easy access to materials kept allied soldiers well fed. This government supported urban agriculture program is much like the one pursued by Cubans after the Soviet Union's collapse halted food and petroleum imports.
