In this episode, Dr. Stephanie Duguid explains how leadership, communication, clarity, connection, and consistency shape what employees experience and whether they trust the people leading them. This first episode of Season 4 introduces the new direction of Create Culture on Purpose, the Leadership Impact Show, and explains why workplace culture has become the central focus of Stephanie’s work. Stephanie shares how the loss of her mother influenced the way she thinks about time, purpose, leadership, and impact. Her mother spent 40 years as an educator and had a gift for helping people feel welcomed, noticed, and valued. Looking back, Stephanie realized her mother had been creating culture long before Stephanie used that language professionally. That realization connected with Stephanie’s own experience leading a department where employees had lost confidence in leadership. Instead of immediately changing systems, she started by listening. She clarified expectations, addressed difficult conversations, rebuilt connections, and worked to provide consistent leadership. The department eventually became a top-performing team. When leadership changed again, some of that culture began to disappear. The lesson was clear. Workplace culture does not sustain itself. Stephanie also explains how unclear communication, inconsistent leadership, poor connection, and uncertainty can lead to misunderstandings, disengagement, lost productivity, distrust, and employee turnover. She introduces the Conscious Leadership Culture Engine, a framework built around four leadership practices: clarity, communication, connection, and consistency. These four areas will guide future episodes as Stephanie explores one central question: What kind of culture is your team experiencing because of the way you lead? WHAT YOU’LL LEARN 1. How everyday leadership behaviors shape workplace culture. 2. Why employees remember how leadership felt long after they forget policies, meetings, and presentations. 3. How unclear expectations can turn into confusion and frustration. 4. Why communication gaps often create assumptions and unnecessary work. Stephanie’s upcoming book focused on intentional workplace culture and leadership.
