っていうアドバイスなどなど、コメントもお気軽にどうぞ💬 After hiking mountains across the US, New Zealand, and Japan, our family of four (husband, myself, and our two daughters in 3rd and 6th grade) took on our very first Japan Alps overnight trail: Shinhotaka ➔ Mt. Yari (Yarigatake) ➔ Kamikochi! In this video, I’m sharing everything inside my (Mom's) backpack and my ultimate packing strategy for tackling 3,000m+ peaks with kids. 🚩【Hike Specs & Route】 ・Day 1: Shinhotaka Ropeway Station ➔ Yaridaira Hut (water refill) ➔ Mt. Yari Hut (Overnight in dormitory / Dinner, breakfast & packed lunch provided) ・Day 2: Early morning summit of Mt. Yari ➔ Yarisawa Lodge (coffee break) ➔ Yokoo Hut ➔ Tokusawa ➔ Kappa Bridge ➔ Kamikochi Bus Terminal (Finish) *Water refills were available at huts along the trail. 🎒【Backpack Gear List】 Not sponsored. All are my personal items. ・Backpack: ULA Equipment Circuit Backpack ・Hydration: 1.5L Water Bottle ・First Aid & Safety: Bandages (assorted sizes), small plastic trash bags, disposable hand warmers, emergency portable toilets ・Rain & Outerwear: Northface rain jacket, Rei rain pants, Patagonia Macro Puff Hoody ・Cold Weather Gear: Warm beanie, Outdoor Research Flurry Sensor Gloves, Black Diamond trekking poles ・Toiletries & Personal Care: Toothbrush & toothpaste, contact lens solution & case, glasses, sunscreen, quick-dry towel ・Lounge Wear / Pjs: Uniqlo trekking pants, Montbell wool base layer top, Smartwool hiking socks ・(Items missed in the video): Portable power bank & cables, wet wipes, trail lunches & snacks from a convenience store 💡【Mom's Packing Hacks for Family High-Altitude Hiking】 💧 Extra Water for First Aid Carrying 1.5L isn't just for drinking—it’s also used to immediately wash out scrapes and cuts if the kids fall on the rocky trail. 🧥 Rain Jacket as a Windbreaker A good rain jacket is essential not just for rain, but as a windproof outer layer when conditions get gusty at high elevations. 🪄 Sharing Trekking Poles My kids usually take one pole each. Safety comes first, so I’m always happy to hand over my poles whenever they need extra balance. 🧗‍♀️ Grippy Gloves for Scrambling The Outdoor Research gloves feature incredible palm grip—highly recommended for steep, rocky sections with chains and ladders! 🔥 Why Synthetic Over Down? Years ago at Bryce Canyon National Park in the US, I wore a down jacket in a snowfall. The snow melted, soaked the down, and completely destroyed its insulation, leaving me freezing. Synthetic insulation (polyester) retains warmth even when wet. Layering the Patagonia Macro Puff under a windproof rain jacket kept me super warm and cozy in 3°C (37°F) temperatures! 🚽 Portable Toilets are Non-Negotiable With young kids, you never know when nature calls! They are an essential safety net on the trail. 🏠 Cozy Hut Wear Also Pjs For relaxing at the mountain hut, I brought comfy loose pants and used my warm wool base layer top as loungewear. If it gets too warm, I just shed a layer!
