Bürchen to Zermatt | Day 6 | The Haute Route

CHASING THE MATTERHORN! Day 6 took us from Bürchen to Zermatt on another spectacular stage of our Haute Route adventure. The day combined demanding Alpine climbs with a long panoramic descent towards Stalden. There, Héctor loaded the bikes onto the trailer for an organised van transfer of approximately 16–17 km to Grächen, where we stopped for lunch before beginning the final riding section. From Grächen, we got back on the bikes and continued south through the Matter Valley, following scenic climbing trails and exhilarating descents towards Zermatt. Then, almost without warning, the Matterhorn appeared. It was one of the defining moments of the entire journey. After setting out from Chamonix several days earlier, we were finally riding beneath Switzerland’s most iconic mountain. Day 6 brought us to Zermatt, but the Haute Route was not finished yet. Day 7 and one final ride beneath the Matterhorn were still to come.
