Cinema at home: Dr. Who and the Daleks (recreating ABC cinema 1965 intro reel)

To celebrate, we're going a little further back than usual. The first big screen outing for the Doctor arrived in the summer of 1965, a mere couple of years after the character's TV debut. Peter Cushing's Doctor was a loose adaptation of the original (he's not a Timelord, for one thing) but this version proved popular enough to justify a sequel the following year - we'll come back to that! By the way, it's fun to note that (at time of writing) the Doctor is back in cinemas next weekend for this year's TV season finale, 60 years on - pretty impressive staying power! On its run in the ABC cinema chain, DWatD was supported by the adventure yarn Coast of Skeletons.
