3/14/26 Caltrain F40PH MPI 920 - 922 at the Amtrak Oakland Yard Ft. Amtrak Dash 8 512!

After missing the Caltrain MPI F40PH move from San Jose to Oakland by literal minutes the previous day, I had to make a frustrating journey to Oakland just to see the locomotives, but I was also welcomed by Amtrak Dash 8 512, CDTX Dash 8 2052 (with blown turbo charger), P42s, and several F59PHI locomotives. Amtrak 512 wasn’t moving, but it gave me the chance to photograph the engine properly. I photographed most of the clips from the bridge. Also, this was the first time I’ve caught a Gold Runner Venture set. In fact, this is the first time I’ve seen the MPI F40PH engines in 2-3 years! These Caltrain MPI F40PH locomotives are different than the ones retired and sent to Peru (900 - 918, except 919 since it’s still at San Francisco). As they were built by MPI in the late 1990s, they were considered the youngest of the F40 fleet, which is how they managed to get rebuilt in 2018 and 2019. I can’t wait to see Caltrain 920, 921, and 922 serving for Capitol Corridor and Gold Runner.
