The journey then becomes a long drive from Höfn to Akureyri, with unexpected encounters along the way. We visit Stuðlagil Canyon, attempt to reach Dettifoss, explore the geothermal landscape around Lake Mývatn, stop at Goðafoss and spend the evening in Akureyri. On Day 8, we drive through the Berserkjahraun lava field and visit Stykkishólmur, one of the Icelandic filming locations featured in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
