Chainmail shirt/hauberk made of about 35,000 stainless steel split rings, size 6, bought from worthco.com. This took about 2 years to make. It fits me, size XXXL, but also shrinks to fit my size Medium wife, who looks very good in it. Style of weave is European 4-in-1. When I made this in Oct 2001 through roughly Aug 2003, I had not heard of anyone else making split ring chainmaile. Most chainmail you see for sale on the net is butted mail; the rings are not closed, and an axe or mace would shred it. Historical mail was likely riveted, but I sought a solution that I could do with just my bare hands. These rings are self-closing, and the mail does not come apart.
