I Entered an Empty Temple Before Opening｜An Unreal Start to a One-Day Crimson Autumn Escape in Kyoto

Hi, I’m Nagi. This time, I’d like to share a special experience I had in Kyoto during its beautiful autumn foliage season. With special permission, I visited Kenninji, Kyoto’s oldest Zen temple, before it opened to the public. Having one of my favorite temples almost entirely to myself made this morning especially memorable. After leaving Kenninji, I continued exploring Kyoto’s autumn scenery. The colors grew richer in the afternoon light, and by nightfall, I was at Konkai Kōmyōji, where the illuminated gardens brought the day to a beautiful close.
