NOAA hurricane hunter “Gonzo” departs Honolulu for Hurricane Lowell. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration operates a fleet of three aircraft used for hurricane hunting, two WP-3 Orions, and one Gulfstream IV. This Gulfstream nicknamed “Gonzo” was briefly stationed in Honolulu to fly around Hurricane Lowell to collect data.
