Stop Worrying About What Other Guitarists Think

What if you didn't have to play fast, play complicated, or impress anybody to make music that means something? After more than 50 years of playing guitar, I've come to appreciate something that might seem a little strange in a world where everybody wants to show what they can do. Sometimes, a simple melody is enough. A few notes, a little space, a moment when you stop worrying about who's listening and just let yourself play. I think there's something beautiful that happens between a musician and an instrument. And it has very little to do with impressing the people standing around watching. In this episode, I talk about musical expression, my memories of Berklee, the magic of a simple motif, and how our playing changes as we change. Becca, my Harley Benton ST62, makes an appearance in the intro and outro. This isn't a guitar review. It's a conversation about what happens when we allow ourselves to enjoy making music. Welcome to Lovings Guitar, where I like to talk about guitars and how they move me. If something here resonates with you, leave a comment. I'd love to hear about your own experience. Be nice to each other. Drink water. Smile more often.
