Why Do We Yawn? The Reflex Older Than Humans

Babies yawn in the womb. Lions, dogs, parrots and fish yawn too. For a long time people said a yawn was the body grabbing extra oxygen, but experiments in the 1980s found that idea did not hold up. In this film we look at what yawning may really be for: the brain-cooling idea tested by Andrew Gallup and colleagues, yawns as the body changing gears between sleep and alertness, and why some yawns spread from person to person, a puzzle scientists still debate. Ancient instincts. Modern answers. This film uses AI-generated reenactment visuals alongside narration. #AncestorLogic #Yawning #Brain #Evolution #Science
